Cleaning up my Google reader with the help of Toluu.

Started by mfruchter · 1 year ago

The other night i did the deed that i have been putting off for so long. I cleaned out my Google reader account. I deleted everything including the dead weight i set off to, “trim only”. It was refreshing to finally have conquered this task, a true victory indeed. Rebuilding my G reader was the [...] ... Continue reading »

  • I really enjoy Toluu as well. It is a great feed discovery service. It has some strangeness... like I keep getting recommendations to read things I already subscribe to and the UI should be less 2.0ish and get more content on the page... Never the less I recommend to all.

  • Mike,

Toluu as a supermarket of feeds, nice! I have found a couple new feeds I didn't know about because of the cleanup you have been doing, so thanks!

As you mention, we are still in private beta, so any suggestions or ideas are always welcome.

  • I have been having the re-occurring thought to "prune" my g-reader as it has jumped too high on a daily basis with things that are just not appealing enough to dig beneath the surface. I would love an invite to Toluu. Thanks! mkoeneker@gmail.com :)
  • My Google Reader subscriptions started to get out of hand quite a while ago so if you still have Toluu invites left I would appreciate one at: niklas.sjostrom [at] gmail [dot] com

  • This sounds like a great idea. If you have any invites remaining, I'd appreciate one. lghuffman at gmail dot com. Thx!
  • I'll be trying out Toluu - my RSS reader, currently NetNewsWires - has about 10,000 feeds in there. Ok, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I really do like to click the Subscribe to RSS button whenever I come across an interesting site.

RSS news becomes kind of an overload. On the other hand, I do find that I have this amazing knowledge of what's "going on" in certain fields at any one time :-)
  • How exactly did you do this then? Re-importing feeds is easy, whether you use your OPML file directly, or go by way of Toluu. Or did you only re-subscribe to your favourite feeds and feeds that Toluu suggested to you? In any case, I know a thing or two about Google Reader vexations; love-hate eh? ;)
  • Nils, I spent a few months building a new OPML file through Toluu only. I did this with feeds that were suggested and new feeds I found along the way. After a few months and a new arsenal of feeds, I wiped my G Reader clean and uploaded the new OPML file from Toluu. I have been happy since!
